I haven’t exactly been the most attentive web logger on the internets. Blame it on my chronic lack of ambition rather than any deficit of opinions or reluctance to share my brilliance / spread my bullshit.

When I started this blog, I intended it to be a place to keep small pieces of work I didn’t want (or need) to use elsewhere, and to post occasional food prep experiments and small art projects. But of late I have a sort of itch, which only a modicum of amateurish punditry can relieve.

The doc keeps talking even though I’m making it kinda obvious I aint paying him no mind any more. He talks instead to my brainless handy man, who stops in the middle of spitting into a Mountain Dew can and tries to look interested. Even the doc aint falling for that; he’s really still jawing at me. I know it, the PA knows it and Dauber the dog tied up outside the screen door probably knows it. Bumblefutz the hired hand don’t have a clue so he swallows his chew and grins at the pretty physician’s assistant.

Chicken Spistachiola with Green Gravy and Corn Cakes

Chicken Spistachiola

Ingredients

2 cups water
8 oz fresh spinach
2 cups seasoned bread crumbs, separated
8 oz crumbly gorgonzola
4 oz shelled roasted salted pistachios, chopped
5 or 6 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 tbsp cooking oil

Directions
· In saucepan, bring water to boil and add spinach. Simmer for 5 minutes, drain and retain pot liquor.

We press among the pack of graceless shamblers
Plodding zombified as we approach the gate.
Converging as singularities
Randomly united by chance connection,
Emerging through the choke as constituents
Of some larger insensible thing.

We form a column and go stately forward,
As if ceremony was essential and important.
As if the crucial actions weren't already spent,
Impossible to correct, unalterable and final.

Xuxu stands as tall as she can in the face of the wind, toes hooked onto the anchor line attached firmly to the posts on either side. The wind means the day is coming, and with it the invasion and her probable death. High up as she is in the tree network, she may be among the last of the firstguard to be overwhelmed, unless she is called down to join the slaughter below.
